Numbers 11:23 NKJV - And the LORD said to Moses, "Has the LORD's arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not."
Do we ever doubt the Lord’s capability to supply our needs and comfort us?
Israel had many doubts about God.
Israel had many doubts about God.
Israel was saved with a “mighty hand”
His salvation of Israel from Egypt was perfect.
And remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the Lord your God brought you out from there by a mighty hand and by an outstretched arm; therefore the Lord your God commanded you to keep the Sabbath day.
He is the Rock, His work is perfect;
For all His ways are justice,
A God of truth and without injustice;
Righteous and upright is He.
As for God, His way is perfect;
The word of the Lord is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
It was not long in the journey before they believed God had brought them there to die.
Exodus 14:11-12 NKJV - Then they said to Moses, "Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? "Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, 'Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians'? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness."
Numbers 11:1-23,31 - They formed a clamor against the leadership of the nation (Moses, Aaron) and more importantly, God.
God is Able.
God is Able.
Sarah’s question
Genesis 18:9-14 - “After I have grown old, shall I have pleasure, my lord being old also?”
The answer: “is anything too hard for the Lord?”
Similar to what is told to Mary:
Luke 1:37 NKJV - "For with God nothing will be impossible."
Israel’s inheritance
Gave them a Law to lead them to the Messiah
Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Gave them the land of Canaan. Guarded them against all enemies in the process.
So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.
Jesus was able to feed the multitude.
Mark 6:35-44 - Amazing providence for His disciples!
Mark 6:48-52; 8:14-21 But the apostles were going to get this completely wrong and grow hard in their hearts against it.
Mark 8:22-26 - The apostles saw a little bit with Jesus, but there was so much more they were missing! For them, Jesus’ arm was “shortened” by such a vast feat of feeding ~10k people.
God does not leave us alone.
God does not leave us alone.
We can have doubts about God.
During family crises (accidents)
During times of loss (death, grief)
During times of hardship (financial)
During times of persecution (bearing our cross)
We must Remember the Work of God.
His Son is sacrificed so that all may become His children. Rom 6:10
Christ’s blood cleanses all who are baptized for the remission of sins. Eph 2:13
God adds the saved to His Church. Acts 2:47
Eternal life promised to those who overcome and are faithful. Rev 2:7
The fulfillment of prophecy is recorded and working to show evidence of all this. 2 Pet 1:21
He is the King with a Plan.
strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.”
Philippians 3:8-11 - The plan is accomplished through the fellowship of sufferings in order to be more conformed to the image of Jesus.
He has given the Organization of the Church.
And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you—
He has established a leadership - the Apostles.
So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
He has Defined the Work - the Gospel of Christ.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
He is the Almighty provider!
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
